Dilly Pickled Onion Slices...it's what you get when you cross an onion and a dill pickle. I think you're gonna like it.

Julia Child said "It's hard to imagine civilization without onions."

I have to agree with her, but I might add a couple words to that sentence. For me, it's hard to imagine civilization without onions and vinegar.

Sweet & Sour: Cranberry Syrup AND Cranberry Drinking Vinegar, made from the same cranberries!

Sweet~Tart Cranberry Syrup in an adorable cranberry-shaped bottle, of course!

I really don't like to see anything go to waste.

Yesterday, in our "Cranberry - 3 Different Ways" class at Whole Foods, we made Cranberry~Jalapeno Chutney, Traditional Cranberry Sauce, and Sweet~Tart Cranberry Syrup. I always set out compost bowls near the prep stations, but I realized as I was setting up before class, that there would be very little "waste" in all three of our recipes. That makes me happy!

Apple Drinking Vinegar, made with Gala apples, Dr Bronners Apple Cider Vinegar and sugar.

People have been drinking vinegar throughout history. Sometimes they drink it straight, for it's many health benefits, but I have found that making "shrubs"*, as they are sometimes called, is a great way to preserve fruit and liven up your daily liquid intake at the same time.

To make Drinking Vinegar, start with any kind of fruit -- preferably something fresh, organic and local.
