Roasting Hatch Chiles

 

Look closely at the wisp of steam.

Do you see anything?

I think I see a happy dog.

I didn't take this photo on purpose. I don't understand enough about shutter speed to catch an image as fleeting as a puff of steam shaped like a smiling floppy-eared Fido. Instead I discovered it when I was looking through  a batch of photos a day or two later.

That's it. I just wanted to show you this fun photo. I had almost forgotten about it until I posted the previous recipe for Sweet~Hot Jalapeno Slices. Then I remembered this photo  I snapped last August.

There's no recipe to go with this photo today. I make Roasted Hatch Chile Salsa with these peppers when they are at their peak, toward the end of summer. For me this is traditionally a Labor Day Weekend project so this blog post is on the back burner for now.

Here's hoping your day includes a happy dog, and maybe a happy accident too.
